Naturopathic Medicine is a distinct healing science and philosophy that blends traditional natural therapies with current advances in the study of human health.
Naturopathic Medicine treats the underlying cause of disease. It is the art and science of supporting the natural healing processes of the individual through the removal of any impediment to the healing process. The Naturopathic Doctor shall emphasize the condition of health to promote well-being and to prevent diseases for the individual, the community and our world.
Our Naturopathic Doctors will first read over your health history intake form that you will fill out prior to your consultation. During the first visit, the Naturopath will then listen to all of your concerns. They will expand on the health history by asking you questions to allow you to say exactly what you feel your issue is. No two people have the same health history, and we promise to take the time it take to truly understand what your symptoms are and what caused them. The Naturopaths goal is to treat the cause of the symptoms, not just put a band aid approach.
"Carcinogens" South Sudbury Wellness by providing clinical laboratory tests that identify nutritional imbalances and toxicities underlying chronic diseases.
There are several ways of assessing both excretion and storage of heavy metals. Acute metal poisoning is rare, but it does occur in some of the industrial areas and certain careers in Sudbury. More common, however, is a chronic low-level exposure to toxic metals that can result in significant retention in the body that can be associated with a vast array of adverse health effects and chronic disease. Toxic metals do not have any useful physiological function and adversely affect virtually every organ system. For more information please see visit our Naturopathic Dr.
Comprehensive Stool Analysis is a test that evaluates digestion, absorption, gut flora, and the colonic environment, and is indicated for all chronic GI problems, for acute bowel pattern changes, and for many systemic diseases. Additionally, Genova offers a parasitology component with the CDSA 2.0 that evaluates for parasites using microscopic examination and EIA testing. The profile is indicated for all chronic GI problems, for acute bowel pattern changes, and for many systemic diseases and provides a sensitivity panel for treating pathogenic flora.
Our IgG blood spot test is performed at a local lab here in Sudbury. The test involves a finger prick to collect blood spots on a blot card and is send for analysis. The results provide a list of 120-200 foods you are sensitive to and identify your food triggers. This list allows our Naturopaths to create an optimal diet for your optimal wellness.
For a functional assessment of female, male and stress hormone levels, saliva hormone testing can be used to identify existing hormone excesses or deficiencies. Saliva hormone testing is an accurate, non-invasive and clinically useful way of measuring hormones. Thousands of studies using salivary hormone analysis have already been published, with more being added on a regular basis. Saliva collection is painless and convenient, particularly when multiple samples are required.
This blood parameter testing is just like regular blood work. Doctors order basic blood chemistry tests to assess a wide range of conditions and the function of organs.
Live Blood/ Darkfield Microscopy is an evaluation method in which an individual may study their blood ‘live’ on screen. It is to date one of the most valuable tools utilized in preventative medicine around the world. This revolutionary method allows the practitioner, and you the patient, to visibly see some of the main underlying causes that allow disease and illness to manifest within our bodies before more conventional testing can even detect a problem.
Darkfield Microscopy can help to assess a wide variety of imbalances that could be disrupting your health such as free radicals, digestive insufficiencies, food intolerances, bowel conditions, parasites and bacteria, candida and fungus, metals, chemicals, uric acid crystals, cholesterol crystals, mineral loss calcium leakage, adrenal stress and much more.
*Lyme Testing and the above list of tests are available at South Sudbury Wellness. Some of these tests will require referral from your Naturopath.
Nutritional Counseling is offered to help maintain optimal wellness and to identify food triggers such as allergens and sensitivities. Certain health conditions require a person to follow a specific diet, such as lactose intolerance, diabetes, and thyroid condition. Another reason we recommend specific foods is to focus on weight management. South Sudbury Wellness will set you up with the ideal diet to help you lose weight or gain weight, depending on your needs.
Sometimes, a change of diet is simply not enough to replenish the vitamins you are missing in your system. In our quest to maintain optimal health, vitamin and mineral supplements are often recommended to satisfy the deficiencies that are found through the health history or specific testing. For example, blood work to assess your B12 status or a Zinc Tally test to assess your zinc levels. Vitamins and minerals can also be recommended in higher than normal levels to help treat certain conditions. For example, fish oils for mood and attention issues or magnesium for muscle spasms.
Naturopathy tries to balance the hormone levels of both men and women through first through diet, and then through botanical medicine. Botanical Medicine is a natural way to mimic hormone action in the body. If those two methods do not work or not enough effect is created, we then use hormone therapy. These hormone therapies are refered to as Bio-Identical Hormones. These hormones are pharmaceutically compounded from plant sources. The most common uses of these bioidentical hormones are for women going through menopause, PMS related symptoms, and fertility issues. In Men, bioidentical hormones can be used to help with libido, erectile dysfuncion, and Andropause.
The fundamental understanding of weight loss is less calories in, and more calories out. Although this is common sense to everyone, sometimes different conditions can increase weight gain and limit weight loss, such as hypothyroidism, adrenal fatigue, or food sensitivity issues, etc. Our Naturopathic Dr's will work with you to set up an optimal nutritional program, as well as identify any health condition that may be present that slows down your weight loss. There are also certain supplements that increase metabolism and help burn fat away. Our Naturopaths will teach you everything you need to know about losing weight and keeping it off.
